Fossil fuel advertising is everywhere we look, from billboards and TV commercials to social media and the radio. But have you ever stopped to consider the hidden costs of these ads on our health and well-being?

Climate change is the greatest threat to global public health in the 21st century, and the burning of fossil fuels is the primary driver. Not only do fossil fuels contribute to climate change, but they also pollute the very air we breathe and pollute and degrade our environment, contributing to a wide range of urgent health issues.

Despite these harmful impacts, fossil fuel companies continue to flood our airwaves with advertisements, creating a favourable environment for their commercial interests, hindering effective action on climate change, and allowing them to continue a business model dependent on fossil fuels.

The effects of fossil fuel advertising on public health are an urgent and timely issue. As the negative health impacts of fossil fuels become increasingly known, it’s crucial that we explore the advertising strategies used by the fossil fuel industry to maintain their profits, shape public opinion, and delay meaningful action.

That’s why we need your support for this documentary, Ad-dicted, which aims to diagnose the cost of fossil fuel advertising. We want to shed light on how these ads influence our perceptions, politics, and policies. Together, we can explore the necessity of implementing advertising regulation as a critical public health intervention.

To create real change, we need your support. By contributing to our crowdfunding campaign, you’ll play a vital role in bringing this important documentary to life. Together, we can raise awareness, spark conversations, and push for the necessary changes to protect public health.

The film is well underway, with contributions from public health practitioners, clinicians, communications and advertising experts, climate scientists, and policymakers.

We are seeking $15,000AUD in support which will enable us to finish filming the final pieces for this documentary in various locations, pay for animation and visual effects, and market and distribute the film to as wide an audience as possible. We will also set up a web platform with a range of resources where audiences can visit and take action on this important issue.

Your support is greatly appreciate and we can’t wait to share the film with you!
